Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov

The two officials discussed the progress of the socio-economic development programme in the Chechen Republic, primarily with regard to the commissioning of important public services and facilities such as hospitals, schools, and social care centres. The head of the Chechen Republic assured the prime minister that all of the facilities that are scheduled for completion in 2011 have already become operational.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with workers of the Kalininskaya nuclear power plant

“We are proud of our nuclear industry,” Prime Minister Putin said during the meeting. According to Putin, nuclear power plants should account for 25% of power generating assets by 2030.

The focus of the meeting was working with investors and the social sphere. The prime minister encouraged the governor to be more active in disbursing funds allocated for upgrading healthcare facilities. He also commented on the need to deregulate the local market for housing and utilities.

Vladimir Putin meets with Rosatom State Corporation Head Sergei Kiriyenko after visiting the Kalinin nuclear power plant

Mr Putin and Mr Kiriyenko discussed the development of nuclear power, and particularly uranium production and the nuclear icebreaker fleet. They focused on social issues at Rosatom and on personnel questions.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Andrei Nikitin, General Director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI)

The ASI general director said the Agency was starting on projects in housing and utilities and in the social sphere. Particular attention was paid to the establishment of the so-called Leaders’ Club for the most promising representatives of small and medium-sized businesses. This implied primarily those not involved in the production of raw materials.
