Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a working meeting with Pskov Governor Andrei Turchak
Having noted a considerable growth of industrial output in the Pskov Region, the prime minister also pointed out a decrease in investments in fixed assets. In response Andrei Turchak promised to make up for the decline by 2011 by developing transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as agriculture.
“New houses have to be built within two months. I would like the Ministry of Regional Development to oversee this work directly, and regional and local authorities, to help people repair the houses in need of repairs,” the prime minister said at the meeting in Novomikhailovsky.
“The harvest fully satisfies the country’s demand in grain considering carryover stocks and intervention inventory reserves. We have enough food and fodder grain.”

Mr Putin and Mr Golubev discussed the region's economy, particularly in agriculture. Mr Golubev assured Mr Putin that the region’s key figures ended the year on an upturn, while at the same time there is some lag in the construction of multi-storey housing. The discussion also touched on winter preparations.

“The government’s recent initiatives, which have resulted in amendments to legislation, clearly establish the duty of specialists in the power industry to form seasonal fuel reserves and perform scheduled maintenance on equipment. A special law, On Heat Supply, has been adopted. According to reports, preparations are going according to schedule this year.”
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that in his new position Vyacheslav Volodin will use the positive management experience he gained in his posts in the Saratov Region, the State Duma and the United Russia party.
