Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with German President Christian Wulff
As Prime MinisterVladimir Putin said at the meeting, an increase of German investments into the Russian economy amounted to almost six billion dollars in the first half of this year. He noted that almost all major German companies are represented in the Russian market. In turn, German President Christian Wulff emphasized that Germany has high hopes for the Russian economy.
“Businesses need to carry on and constantly improve their standards of operation and social responsibility. Only then will the government be able to continue its policy of removing bureaucratic barriers, including in taxation.”
“Our producers can and must meet growing gas demand, guarantee the stable supply of gas for domestic consumers, and maintain and expand their presence on world markets. To achieve this, they will have to increase gas production from the current 650 billion cubic metres a year to one trillion per year, which is practically 1.5 times more. And we have every opportunity to do this.”

The focus of the discussion was on the elections in the region and the socio-economic situation in the area, which, as the governor reported, posted a growth of domestic regional product and an increase in the industrial production index.
