Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a meeting with Minister of Healthcare and Social Development Tatyana Golikova

The topic of the meeting was an 8.8% indexation of pensions beginning on February 1, 2011. As Ms Golikova told Mr Putin, the increase will not require any additional contributions from the state budget. The average pension, according to her, will be 8,498 roubles a month beginning on February 1, and WWII veterans will receive 20,295 roubles on average.

The two officials discussed the Audit Chamber’s plans for 2011. The chamber’s chairman highlighted issues related to the programme to improve the efficiency of budget spending, including in Russia’s regions. In this regard, the prime minister pointed out that the government put special value on and gave special attention to work with the regions and monitoring the efficiency of budget spending.
