Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov

Mr Putin and Mr Yevkurov discussed the socio-economic situation in Ingushetia, highlighting unemployment, which the prime minister said was the republic’s biggest problem. The Ingush president said that although targets had not been reached, unemployment had decreased by 4.9%.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with head of the Republic of Altai Alexander Berdnikov

Mr Putin and Mr Berdnikov discussed the republic’s performance in 2010 and its plans for 2011, highlighting programmes to modernise the healthcare system and reduce unemployment. Berdnikov claimed that he had already witnessed the programmes' positive influence on the region.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a meeting with Sverdlovsk Region Governor Alexander Misharin

The two officials discussed the region’s socio-economic development, including the state of its major industrial enterprises and single-industry towns. Speaking about the large-scale investment programme that also includes the Uralmashzavod facility, the prime minister pointed out the need to protect the enterprise from the aggressive dumping policy of certain foreign companies. Mr Putin and Mr Misharin also talked about ways to make the region’s industrial facilities more environmentally friendly.
