Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a meeting in St Petersburg on the performance of Russia’s fuel and energy sector in 2010 and its objectives for 2011

“I have ample reasons to thank you for the results of 2010 – the shareholders of our major companies, the workers, the engineers, and everyone who contributed to our coa industryl, power engineering, nuclear power, oil and gas sectors <…> and I hope that we won’t see any more setbacks like the price hikes we witnessed and that the Federal Antimonopoly Service will prepare its proposals regarding transparent market pricing according to the relevant market reference points.”

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a video conference in St Petersburg on preparations for the 27th Summer World University Games

“The Summer World University Games are a major international competition. We won the right to hold the World Student Games in 2008, and the practical work began in 2009. Over this time, the Republic of Tatarstan allocated some of its own funds for the preparations, but the bulk of the funding has come from the federal budget, 25 billion roubles in total.”

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and Director General of Uralvagonzavod Oleg Siyenko

The meeting was held to discuss Uralvagonzavod’s performance results for 2010 and state assistance to the corporation during the economic crisis. Denis Manturov and Oleg Siyenko reported to Prime Minister Vladimir Putin about the measures the corporation’s management has taken to increase its economic efficiency and expand the range of its products, such as vehicles for extinguishing fires in inaccessible areas.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Lipetsk Region Governor Oleg Korolyov

The prime minister and the governor discussed the Lipetsk Region’s performance in 2010, including the progress of major investment projects, and the situation in agriculture after last summer’s severe drought. “The Lipetsk Region is a national leader according to nearly every economic indicator,” Mr Putin noted.
