Putin and Titov discussed the modernisation of Russia’s economy, especially the creation of new, high-tech jobs. Titov presented a list of projects which Delovaya Rossiya believes may become growth points for a new Russian economy and effective economic leadership.
The two officials discussed the results of socio-economic development efforts in the North Caucasus Federal District during the first half of 2011. According to Khloponin, the results indicate that the local economy is growing quickly, and, thanks to effective federal programmes, the unemployment rate fell by 23% from last year. The discussion focused particularly on ongoing investment projects.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to social issues such as reducing the unemployment rate, increasing teachers’ salaries, social housing construction, including the “Teacher’s House” project initiated by the prime minister. In addition, off-plan investors’ problems were discussed at the meeting.
