Prime Minister Vladimir Putin attends round table discussion on issues of the timber industry

“We strongly believe that our niche on the global market is in products with high value added, including construction materials, paper and the like. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin chairs a meeting to discuss progress made on investment projects in the timber industry

"Many companies are showing more interest in the timber industry. Therefore, I would like to emphasise that it is the government’s responsibility to give all interested businesses an opportunity to invest in timber projects. If a project meets the requirements, the company should have no problems with leasing forest plots or anything else."

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with the head of the Komi Republic, Vyacheslav Gaizer

Prime Minister Putin and the head of the Komi Republic, Vyacheslav Gaizer, have discussed the republic’s performance in the first six months of 2010. Mr Gaizer has noted stable positive trends in the public services and the economy, and emphasised that inflation has been lower in his republic than across the country and that the demographic situation has been improving, primarily due to the government’s social support programmes. However, there has also been a modest decline in oil production in the republic.
