Prime Minister Putin believes that Qatar is a very interesting partner for Russia, as the two countries are among the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbons, primarily gas. “It is very important to coordinate our joint work on the markets,” stated Prime Minister Putin.

“Russia and Qatar have sufficient resources to step up cooperation, and there is a lot we can do. <…> Russia is prepared to expand its dialogue with the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and our partners have expressed interest in this as well,” Prime Minister Putin said following the talks.

The meeting participants focused on the customs and tariff policy. Mr Putin said it is crucial for enhancing the competitiveness of the Russian economy and its rational integration in the global economy. They also discussed preparations for the spring farming campaign, the problem of unemployment, and the fight against tuberculosis in Russia.The presidium members also considered Russia’s bid to host the 2018 FIFAWorld Cup.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that Russia has always supported China on the most sensitive issues. He assured the Chinese vice president that Russia “is ready to continue building its relations with China based on respect for our interests. Both Russia and China have many common interests.”
