At the meeting, Vladimir Putin and Ivan Dedov discussed the work of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, its partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Development, and its participation in modernisation programme of the health care system.
Discussion at the meeting focused on the socio-economic situation in the region. The prime minister was particularly interested in programmes for improving healthcare and education.
The officials discussed the preliminary results of the federal targeted programme to develop the state border to 2011(inclusive) and preparations for the new programme for 2012-2017.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Rusnano CEO Anatoly Chubais
Anatoly Chubais told the prime minister about the company’s latest R&D, emphasising in particular the introduction of Russian-manufactured cutting-edge materials for military and civilian aircraft building. In addition, he showed Mr Putin a prototype of an electronic textbook, to be introduced in schools in several regions of Russia under a pilot program.

The governor described the current social and economic situation in the region, with an emphasis on agriculture and housing construction. The prime minister paid special attention to the modernisation of education and healthcare, and spoke about the need to raise schoolteacher salaries to meet the regional average.
