Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a meeting in Kirishi on Russia’s refining industry and petroleum products market

Speaking to the main shareholders and managers of Russian oil companies, the prime minister said, “You work in the Russian Federation. You obtain licenses to use the mineral resources, but these resources are owned by the Russian people,” adding that “the state will exercise its right to regulate these activities, and the companies should be responsible for making high-quality petroleum products available on the domestic market.”

Vladimir Putin discusses social and economic development of the Leningrad Region with Governor Valery Serdyukov

The governor reported that in the past six months the region’s industrial production has increased by 9.4% while the region’s GDP has increased by 8%. The housing construction is steady. Valery Serdyukov also reported on the current state of education and healthcare.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin chairs a government meeting

Participants in the meeting discussed the foundations of the budget policy for 2012 and for the planned period of 2013-2014. Vladimir Putin pointed out that this is the first truly post-crisis budget. “We are getting additional opportunities for resolving long-term strategic objectives," he said. "In this sense, the submitted budget is a development budget designed to stimulate quality growth and modernise the economy.”
