Vladimir Putin and Boris Gryzlov discussed the work of the Russian Popular Front, including preparations for nationwide primaries to select candidates. Mr Gryzlov said that 4,500 applications from prospective candidates have been received to date, and that this number continues to increase. For this reason, Vladimir Putin agreed to extend the deadline for submitting applications until July 20.
Vladimir Putin urged government members to invest part of their personal savings to build a monument to Pyotr Stolypin. He said that Stolypin created the foundations for social policy in Russia, reformed state institutions and government agencies and ensured impressive industrial growth.

The two leaders focused on the regional government’s cooperation with the Housing & Utilities Fund on projects related to major repairs of dilapidated housing; modernisation of public services, and notably healthcare and education, were high on the agenda. The prime minister instructed the Altai governor to bring teachers’ pay up to the region’s average before the end of this year.
“We are with you today, and we feel for you,” Putin said, addressing the victims of the tragedy on the Volga River. He said that he has signed a resolution offering payment to the families of the dead and injured.
“The formation of the common customs space of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan marks the first step towards restoring the natural economic and trade ties in the post-Soviet space,” the Russian prime minister said.
