Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Minister of Energy Sergei Shmatko

Vladimir Putin and Minister of Energy Sergei Shmatko discussed prices on the energy market. The prime minister advocated the protection of market-based and fair prices from speculation and corporate collusion. Mr Putin and Mr Shmatko also discussed an expanded energy transport infrastructure, including the implementation of the South Stream project.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Valery Ryazansky, leader of the Pensioners’ Union of Russia and first deputy head of the United Russia party in the State Duma

Vladimir Putin and Valery Ryazansky discussed the indexation of labour and social pensions, scheduled for April and July respectively. The prime minister suggested indexing both pensions simultaneously, on April 1, so that “people start to receive more money earlier, already in April, without having to wait until July.”

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Andrei Krainy, head of the Federal Agency for Fishery

The prime minister and his colleague discussed the results of the fishing industry in 2010, as well as the results of government support for the industry. Mr Putin also inquired whether recreational fishermen will be charged fees for fishing. Mr Krainy responded that his agency has no such plans.

Prime Minister Putin and Governor Brovko discussed in detail the performance of employment programmes and large-scale investment projects in the region, and they touched on housing construction and healthcare.

Vladimir Putin and Nikolai Denin focused on wage-and-salary raises, as well as the most important regional projects. Moreover, the Governor told the Prime Minister that not a single municipal enterprise had exceeded municipal price-hike ceilings. The Prime Minister instructed the Governor to focus on the rural healthcare system and outpatient clinics.
