Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits North Caucasus Federal District and attends United Russia interregional conference to discuss the Strategy for Social and Economic Development of the North Caucasus through 2020, in particular the programme for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012

"The North Caucasus must be fully integrated into Russia’s informational and cultural space. Federal radio and TV channels should have more programmes covering the North Caucasus. But the most convincing and strongest arguments are the real, positive changes that have taken place, greater security, restored order in the government agencies, economic growth, a stronger social welfare and, importantly, the development of a functional civil society."

Topics discussed during the meeting include the harvest, insurance for agricultural enterprises, the local demographic situation and employment. The governor highlighted improvements in the labour market.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov

Mr Putin described the overall situation in the republic positively – in demographic terms, in terms of gross regional product and in terms of agriculture, although, in his view, there are still many problems one being unemployment. Mr Kadyrov in turn pointed out that “our life is peaceful today. The fight against terrorism might be said to be over.”

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a meeting with Arsen Kanokov, President of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic

Topics of discussion at the meeting included the overall social and economic situation in the region, as well as several promising projects. President Arsen Kanokov said that the decision to provide government guarantees of up to 70% for investment projects will stimulate the economy of Kabardino-Balkaria and the economies of other North Caucasian republics.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Ingush President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov

The two men discussed the current economic situation in the republic, including the implementation of the federally targeted programmes. They mentioned blood feuds, a problem in Ingushetia and other North Caucasian republics. The prime minister stressed that such crimes must be avoided and added that the conflicts must be settled in accordance with the law.
