Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, on a working visit to Chelyabinsk, discusses the state of affairs in Chelyabinsk Region with Governor Mikhail Yurevich

The governor told the prime minister that the overall situation in the Chelyabinsk Region was favourable. For example, the industrial sector, including the metals industry, has shown some growth, the construction sector has revived and unemployment has fallen. The Chelyabinsk Region is making the transition to “sustainable growth”, Mr Yurevich said. There are some problems, however, including slight wage arrears. But the most pressing issue is the agricultural situation as a result of the drought. In this respect, the prime minister emphasised the need “to carry out damage assessment work as soon as possible”.
