Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin
Mr Putin and Mr Yakunin discussed Russian Railways’ performance in 2009 and investment programmes for 2010. The prime minister also inquired about the launch of the high speed train Sapsan.
“Support for music will always be one of the government’s top priorities in culture. A total of 6.4 billion roubles will be allocated from the federal budget for musicians and choreographers in 2010,” said Prime Minister Putin. He also pledged to carry on with support programmes for touring musicians, saying: “People living in remote Russian regions must not feel alienated from the country’s cultural life.”
“We must find a way to create the most favourable environment for foreign investments as well as for any other kind of investment in our economy <…> Our primary goal is to diversify our economy and to break from mono-economy.”
Vladimir Putin has ordered ownership of fishing vessels in the Far East transferred to the state due to a construction loan default. The fishing boats were built in Germany in 1992.
