Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds talks with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Wen Jiabao

As Vladimir Putin stressed during the meeting, the economic ties between Russia and China have passed the crisis successfully and become stronger. The Russia-China strategic partnership is an important factor of stability and security in the world and in the Asia-Pacific region in particular, the Russian prime minister said.

“We both agree that our countries now have an excellent opportunity to not only accelerate the post-crisis recovery of our economies and trade ties but also take our cooperation to a new level. This is confirmed by the statistics: in the first eight months of 2010 bilateral trade increased by more than 57%,” stated Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

“While our discussion today is about the fate of the tiger, we are in fact touching on issues that are critical for the entire planet, humanity and its future. Using the example of the tiger, we are speaking about how to preserve nature. We are saying that human civilization can only develop sustainably if we take a responsible attitude to nature, our common home. We all have to work hard and join forces to ensure that this attitude becomes widespread.”

“The goals set forth in the Global Programme for Tiger Conservation cannot be achieved without the active participation of ordinary citizens. Broad public support and understanding of the process are extremely important for the success of the programme.”

Mr Putin remarked during the meeting that friendly cooperation had arisen between Russia and Bangladesh in recent years. At the same time, the Russian prime minister stressed that there is still much more to do to bring bilateral trade and economic ties to the proper level.
