The two officials discussed the results of activities conducted in the Yaroslavl region in the first quarter and other important projects, including: mechanical engineering, roads and a plan to update the regional healthcare service.
The officials discussed the upcoming 250th anniversary of the State Hermitage Museum, to be celebrated in 2014. The prime minister noted that the Hermitage Museum is a site of global cultural significance, and its anniversary should be celebrated accordingly. At the same time, he added, the goal is not only to celebrate but to strengthen the museum.
The conversation touched on a variety of issues, including the role trade unions play at the company, skill formation, space industry development and other important topics.
The officials discussed the truck scrapping programme and the purchase of new trucks for the armed forces. Vladimir Putin said that such an exchange, which is similar to the car scrapping programme, is advantageous for both the producers and the Defence Ministry.
“No doubt, it is necessary to channel significant federal funding into the construction and renovation of cultural facilities, but each investment must be justified and effective.<…> What we need are not ambitious mega- projects but theatres that would be in demand and would serve the people by promoting the educational and cultural development of the entire nation.”

During the meeting, Prime Minister Putin noted that the development strategy for Russian theatres was nearing its completion and that the day's discussion had been highly constructive. “We’ll analyse all the ideas expressed here today,” Mr Putin said in summation of the meeting.

The topic of the meeting was the region's economic performance in the first quarter, primarily in agriculture. Special attention was paid to social issues, in particular to the regional healthcare modernisation programme.
