The topic of the meeting was opportunities for ecotourism and visits by Russians to nature preserves. Mr Putin wanted to know what needed to be done to provide such opportunities and at the same time to keep the protected areas in a decent shape.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Khabarovsk Territory Governor Vyacheslav Shport discussed healthcare challenges and ways to develop the region’s transport infrastructure and restore its economy after the recession. Governor Shport noted that the measures the government took last year, notably in the defence industry, allowed the region to increase its industrial production by 29% and save jobs and companies.
The prime minister instructed the governor to personally supervise a flood response and provide the necessary help to those affected.
