Vladimir Putin and Sergei Stepashin discussed the Audit Chamber’s plans for 2009, particularly the control of disbursement of government funds by major banks and the monitoring of budget allocations for the stabilisation of South Ossetia.
He said that periodical publications had always been known for “masterful journalists, talented analysts, and reporters; thanks to their efforts, the media had always remained in demand and interesting, and had preserved the unique traditions of print media.”
Mr Zhukov said that Russia will start implementing the government Pure Water Programme in 2010. He noted that an interdepartmental working group had been set up last October to develop it.
