Addressing the award ceremony, Mr Sobyanin said that print media had always set the standards for quality journalism. He said that periodical publications had always been known for "masterful journalists, talented analysts, and reporters; thanks to their efforts, the media had always remained in demand and interesting, and had preserved the unique traditions of print media."

"Attachment of millions of people to newspapers and magazines is not merely a habit, but first of all a genuine trust in those who deliver the latest news, explain the essence and logic of the world, domestic, and local affairs," stressed Mr Sobyanin. He believes that "this trust is important and it has been earned by journalists' civic responsibility, honesty, impartiality, and understanding of their responsibility to the public."
