On November 12, Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen will visit Russia on the invitation of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin

Bilateral talks will concern the future of the friendly Russian-Finnish relations, the development of trade, economic, scientific and technical contacts, and the improvement of their legal, contractual and normative bases.

The agenda included a long-term programme for Transneft’s development over the next 10 to12 years and such major projects as the construction of East Siberia-Pacific pipeline, the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS 2) and the Burgas-Alexandroupolis project.

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov chaired a meeting of the Government Commission on the development of small and medium enterprises

According to Mr Shuvalov, the Finance Ministry is aware of the need to offer tax inducements to small and medium business and is contemplating such measures and will submit the corresponding proposals to the Government within days.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin presented the country’s budget strategy in the period up to 2023 during the Government Hour in the Federation Council (upper house of the Russian parliament)

Mr Kudrin said that the 2009 budget was “in compliance with the Government’s economic policy objectives and planned expenditures.” He said that the budget anticipated that Government expenditures would be growing at a higher rate than the GDP and inflation growth rates.

On November 10-13, Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif will visit Russia on the invitation of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin

Russian-Egyptian talks will address a wide range of issues related to strategic partnership, in particular, increasing bilateral trade and the realisation of major long-term joint projects. The negotiating parties will also discuss new areas of bilateral cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, oil and gas sphere, development of high technologies and transportation infrastructure.
