1975-1994: served in the Armed Forces.

1979: graduated from Lviv Political-Military Academy as a military journalist.

1979-1988: reporter, editor of the Na Boyevom Postu newspaper at Moscow Air-Defence District.

1988-1994: special correspondent, department head at Komsomolskaya Pravda.

1994-1996: General Director of Sokol, a Swiss-Russian joint venture.

1996-1998: President of the Agroprodsnab corporation.

1998-2003: Chairman of the Board of Kaliningrad Package Manufacturing Plant, Chairman of the Board of Baltic Fish Canning Plant.

2003-2007: Director of Kaliningrad's Marine Fishing Port.

2004:  graduated from Russian Civil Service Academy with a degree in state and municipal management.

May 2007-October 2007: Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery.

October 8, 2007: appointed Head of the State Committee for Fishery by Government Executive Order No. 1375-r.

June 12, 2008: appointed Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery by Government Executive Order No. 842-r.

State awards: medal For Distinguished Military Service, 2nd and 3rd Class, Order of St. Equal to Apostles Prince Vladimir, Gold Order of Glory to Russia and Order of Minin and Pozharsky.

Received the Kremlin Grand National Award in the ‘Leader in a Special Economic Zone' category and the Pyotr Veliky Award for efficient management of an enterprise and achieving steady financial and economic growth.

Married, with a son and daughter.

Hobbies: history of painting, classical and modern literature, mountain skiing, hockey.
