Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin and Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko hold final round of negotiations on duty-free Russian oil for Belarus

Joint Statement

by Igor Sechin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Vladimir Semashko, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus

Based on the existing economic contacts between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, bilateral agreements, and decisions by the Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus;

Seeking to ensure further integration within the framework of the developing Union State and comprehensive energy partnership,

The Protocol has hereby been signed, on January 27, 2010, on Amending the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on Measures to Regulate Trade and Economic Cooperation for the Export of Oil and Refined Oil Products, of January 12, 2007, thus reaching a mutually beneficial agreement regarding the supply and transportation of Russian oil through the Republic of Belarus.

The implementation of the signed Protocol shall ensure the reliable supply of oil to European consumers.

The Russian and Belarusian signatories confirm their dedication to the principles of international energy security, and guarantee stable conditions for oil transits through the territories of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
