First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chaired a meeting of the Government Commission on Foreign Trade Protection Measures and Customs and Tariff Policy

After repeated consideration of new export customs duties on nickel it was decided to set duties at 5% of customs value from December 1, 2009.

Members of the Commission found a proposal to extend the non-duty import of natural rubber for another nine months reasonable. Following a discussion, the Commission also decided to recommend that the Government approve import rates on standard plastic accessories for eyeglass rims at 15% of their customs value. In relation to accessories from other materials, it was proposed to set zero rates. Such a differentiated approach takes into account the interests of Russian producers of protective eyeglasses.

After repeated consideration of new export customs duties on nickel it was decided to set duties at 5% of the customs value from December 1, 2009.

Export customs tariffs on unprocessed timber in 2010 will be examined at the next meeting of the Commission.
