1963-1966: Assistant to the General Director of the German Machine-Building Association, Frankfurt

1966-1971: Member of the Managing Board, Sulzer Escher Wyss AG, Zurich.

1971: Founded the European Management Forum, renamed the WEF in 1987, and became its permanent chairman.

1972-2003: Professor of Business Policy, University of Geneva.

2003: Honorary Professor, University of Geneva.

Dr Schwab is the author of a number of scientific publications.

Fluent in German, English and French.

Married, with two children.
