Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visits the Volkswagen Group Rus plant in Kaluga

Volkswagen Group Rus' assembly plant in the Kaluga Region opened in November 2007. In October 2009, the opening ceremony of the full-circle production line took place. The line includes welding, painting and assembling activities, with a capacity of 150,000 cars per year.

In 2011, a three-day shift schedule was introduced at the plant. The plant currently employs 6,000 people and manufactures 650 cars per day. Volkswagen Polo (saloon model), Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Octavia, and Fabia are manufactured at the Kaluga plant. The Volkswagen Touareg and Multivan models are produced with the use of SKD assembly technology.
