Dmitry Medvedev tours the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant on his working visit to the Rostov Region

The Prime Minister toured the truck workshop, engine workshop, fastening workshop and apparatus workshop of the plant – the largest enterprise producing electric locomotives in Russia and Europe. 

In addition, according to the plant’s General Director Sergei Podust, this is a unique European enterprise with a test centre equipped with a 7.5 km test track. The enterprise also has 19 workshops for main production and 10 workshops for auxiliary production, metrology, calculation and training centres. Since opening in 1936, the plant has produced over 16,000 electric locomotives of 65 types operating on Russian and post-Soviet railways as well as in Poland, China and Finland.

During his visit, the Prime Minister spoke to workers and discussed social conditions, Then the Prime Minister attended the ceremonial handover of an EP20 electric locomotive to Russian Railways.
