Dmitry Medvedev attends the first Anti-Counterfeiting 2012 International Forum

The first Anti-Counterfeiting 2012 International Forum is being held on October 22-24 with the support of the Government. It is organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in conjunction with the Antikontrafakt (Anti-Counterfeiting) non-profit partnership. First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov is chairing the Forum's Organising Committee. The main goals of the event are primarily to create an exhibition space for Russian and foreign manufacturers of top-quality products, to display and discuss state-of-the-art technologies and ways of preventing the appearance of counterfeit products and to position Russia as a country that actively protects and prevents the violation of intellectual property rights. Those involved in the forum will focus on specific intellectual property protection methods. They will also prioritise the spread of information about the protection of copyright and neighbouring rights, as well as the registration of patents and trademarks.

Twelve thematic workshops involving over 1,500 Russian and international experts will be held during the forum. Several exhibitions will also be organised. A Future for Russia without Counterfeit Products will highlight the latest trends in efforts to counter the spread of counterfeit products and piracy. Participants in the exhibition will have the opportunity to discuss modern inventions in this field together with representatives of manufacturing companies, and to assess the potential of laboratories for conducting the required tests and research. A special section of this exhibition features products confiscated in Russia and recognised as counterfeit by local courts.

The forum’s Business Zone interactive platform features modern counterfeiting-prevention technology and methods, as well as express tests and other methods for exposing counterfeit products.
