Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev congratulates Russian athletes on their medal victories at the 2012 Paralympic Games

The message to the winner of the men’s 200 metres Roman Kapranov reads, in part: “You had no equals in the men’s 200 metre dash. Competing against worthy opponents, you displayed a top fighting spirit – tenacity, strength of will and a desire to win. Your success brilliantly confirms the high level of Russian athletics.”

The message to Alexei Ashapatov, the winner of the discus throw, reads, in part:

“A talented athlete and the banner bearer of the Russian team in Beijing and London, you have once again met the expectations of your fans and coaches. Defending the honour of this country in the discus throw, you not only outstripped your seasoned rivals, you also established a world record. This medal is your third Paralympic gold.”

The message to silver medalist in shooting Marina Klimenchenko reads, in part:

“You have achieved success in shooting from pneumatic pistol. Competing against strong rivals you demonstrated tenacity, determination and an enormous will for victory. This medal at the Paralympics represents a wonderful gift to all Russian fans.”

The message to Roman Dubovoy, silver medalist in swimming, reads, in part:

“You gave a worthy performance in the swimming competitions, and confidently won the 100 metres butterfly with an impressive result. Your skill, endurance and excellent training were the keys to your success.”

The message to Vladimir Krivulya, bronze medalist in powerlifting, reads, in part:

“You have won a bronze medal in a bitter struggle with the world’s strongest athletes. Having made it onto the podium, you have confirmed the high level of the Russian school of powerlifting.”

The message to Shakhban Kurbanov, bronze medalist in judo, reads, in part:

“You have befittingly continued a series of brilliant performances started by Russian judo fighters at the 30th Olympics. You demonstrated courage, mastery and a true fighter’s spirit in a series of difficult fights.”
