The prime minister watched the game from the visitors' sector in the stands at Earl's Court. Watching the game with him was President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov.

The prime minister took lots of photographs of the action on the court and made no effort to hide his emotions when Russia won the point.

Russia won the first set 25:19 and the second 25:10.

At the end of the match Dmitry Medvedev came down from the stands and congratulated the Russian women on their victory.
