The prime minister announced that he has issued a directive approving a programme of events celebrating the centenary of the union of Russia and Tyva and Kyzyl’s founding.

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Kara-ool, I’ve called you to say that I’ve signed a document following the executive order I signed last August – on celebrating the centenary of the union of Russia and Tyva and Kyzyl’s founding. This document specifies a programme of events year by year, financial support for the main undertakings, concerts, exhibitions, competitions and renovations of museums and other cultural institutions – everything that had been planned initially. In this regard, I’d like to ask you to start carrying out this plan in line with the government’s directive in order to prepare for these events since now the government established a legal foundation for this work and made concrete financial allocations for it. So, please make use of this document.

Sholban Kara-ool: Mr Medvedev, the present you have to our multi-ethnic Tyva and it was the 65th anniversary of the formation of the Tuvan People's Republic… It was in this anniversary year that you issued a presidential order on the 100th anniversary of Russia and Tyva’s unification. Thank you for signing a government directive on this score. It will play an important role in our lives, apart from giving us moral support. We know that this directive allocates 1.2 billion roubles of direct support for us to prepare for the celebrations. I’m convinced that this will improve the living standards because some of the measures concern infrastructure. I appreciate this very much and I thank you for it. And, of course, I’d like to use this opportunity to congratulate you on the start of the work of the new government.

Dmitry Medvedev: Thank you.

Sholban Kara-ool: For my part, I’d like to assure you that all that we have at our disposal and events… We will do everything to prepare these events for 2014 and, correspondingly…

Dmitry Medvedev: Let’s visit and attend some events…

Sholban Kara-ool: Thank you very much.

Dmitry Medvedev: …we should plan to visit during the centenary celebrations. I wish you every success. Now you can work according to the time table.

Sholban Kara-ool: Thank you very much.
