Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev submits proposals on the structure and composition of the new government to President Vladimir Putin

Dmitry Medvedev

"According to the Federal Constitutional Law on the Government and in line with the agreements we made, I have consulted with my advisors and drafted a presidential decree on the structure of the federal executive bodies. It has been thoroughly analysed and approved by me as Prime Minister. I am now handing it over to you for consideration".

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Vladimir Putin: Mr Medvedev, as we previously agreed we are meeting today to discuss the new government. I know that you have worked hard on the structure and composition over the last few days. Let us now talk about it in more detail.

Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Putin, according to the Federal Constitutional Law on the Government and in line with the agreements we made, I have consulted with my advisors and drafted a presidential decree on the structure of the federal executive bodies. It has been thoroughly analysed and approved by me as Prime Minister. I am now handing it over to you for consideration.

Vladimir Putin: Thank you very much Mr Medvedev. And what about the composition of the government?

Dmitry Medvedev: I suggest we discuss the candidates off the record to avoid arousing excessive curiosity. I have also held discussions with all the candidates for the government posts, and would like to pass the list on to you so that you can continue the consultations with them.

Vladimir Putin: Thank you very much. I will, of course, read through the decree on the government structure. As soon as I have signed it I will start discussions with the candidates put forward by you for the federal ministerial posts.
