Prime Minister Vladimir Putin holds a meeting with Tver Region Governor Alexander Shevelyov

The focus of the meeting was working with investors and the social sphere. The prime minister encouraged the governor to be more active in disbursing funds allocated for upgrading healthcare facilities. He also commented on the need to deregulate the local market for housing and utilities.

Born on May 24, 1970, in Bely, Kalinin Region.

1987 (August) entered the Ryazan Airborne Commanders Academy. After graduation, served in the 76th Chernigov Airborne Division (in Pskov). Initially served as reconnaissance platoon commander, later as deputy commanding officer of independent reconnaissance battalion.

1995: Was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation.

1997-2003: Served at St Petersburg Suvorov Military School.

2003-2007: State Duma deputy, deputy head of the State Duma Committee for Credit Organisations and Financial Markets.

2008-2011: Deputy Governor – First Deputy Chairman of the Ryazan Region government.

2011 (from July 7): Tver Region Governor.
