Prime Minister Vladimir Putin attends the unveiling ceremony for a memorial stele to Mikhail Lomonosov in Arkhangelsk, to mark the great Russian scholar’s 300th birthday anniversary

On October 10, 2011, the building of the Lomonosov House Science and Educational Centre was opened on Popov Street after a two-year reconstruction effort.

A project to improve the adjacent territory near the Northern Dvina embankment was drafted on the initiative of Arkhangelsk Mayor Viktor Pavlenko.

Under this project, a monumental art masterpiece, namely, a stele/obelisk with a bas-relief of Mikhail Lomonosov, was delivered and installed in commemoration of his 300th birthday. ROSKAMSERVICE PLC was the project contractor.

Under a municipal contract to improve the territory of the Oktyabrsky area, colour cobblestones, fences and decorative lighting were installed. Severnaya Roza (Northern Rose) Ltd. was the project contractor.

The stele/obelisk was built and the adjacent territory improved by October 10, 2011.
