Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov
19 october 2010
Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:
Vladimir Putin: Mr Zhukov, two tragedies occurred in Russia quite recently: a flood in the Krasnodar Territory and a terrorist attack in Grozny. Some people were injured, and some lost their lives.
I have signed two government resolutions on providing financial assistance to victims' families. Several people died in the terrorist attack in Grozny today, and there are dead and missing following the flood in the Krasnodar Territory.
In accordance with earlier decisions, every bereaved family will receive a million roubles and the injured will receive 200 to 400 thousand depending on the severity of the injury.
A government commission will be working on site in the Krasnodar Territory to assess the amount of federal aid required. The commission includes representatives of the Emergencies Ministry, the Ministry of Regional Development and the Krasnodar territorial administration. They must determine how much property was destroyed and how much federal aid is needed as quickly as possible.
Please monitor the situation and ensure that the money leaves the Ministry of Finance as soon as possible, that it is transferred to regional accounts and reaches recipients.
Alexander Zhukov: Mr Prime Minister, we will do everything rapidly. We will allocate and transfer the money today. Everything will be taken care of.
Vladimir Putin: Thank you.
