“All social commitments should be fulfilled in full … I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again: valuable human resources should not be squandered. These people will be needed to increase production.”

The urban area of Rybinsk is the administrative centre of the Rybinsk Municipal Area, located in the Yaroslavl Region.

The population was 206,700 as of January 1, 2010, and population density was 2,946.2 persons per square kilometre.

The largest industrial facility in the city is the Saturn Research and Production Association (heavy machinery). The city is also home to power industry facilities (the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station and the Rybinskkabel cable plant), a woodworking factory (the Svoboda furniture factory), light industrial facilities, food processing plants, shipyards (the Vympel Shipyard and the Nobel Brothers Shipyard) and production facilities that manufacture instrumentation (the Rybinsk instrumentation production facility).
