Kosachyov

Born September 17, 1962 in the village of Mamontovka, Moscow Region.

Education

1984: Graduated from the Soviet Foreign Ministry's Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). Ph. D. in Law.

Work history

Mr Kosachyov held various positions at the Central Administrations of the Soviet Foreign Ministry and Russian Foreign Ministry and at diplomatic missions abroad. He served as a Counselor with the Embassy in Sweden, Adviser to the Russian Foreign Minister and Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second European Department.

1998-1999: Served as Adviser, Aide on Foreign Issues and Deputy Head of the Secretariat of Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov.

1999-2003: Deputy of the Third State Duma of the Federal Assembly, member of the Fatherland – All Russia parliamentary party and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

2003-2011: Deputy of the Fourth and Fifth State Dumas of the Federal Assembly and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

December 4, 2011: Elected to the Sixth State Duma of the Federal Assembly.

March 5, 2012: Appointed Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
