The Commission is a permanent body set up to coordinate the efforts of federal bodies of executive authority in preventing the bankruptcy of strategic enterprises and organisations and defence industry organisations, included in the statutory manner in a summary register of defence industry organisations and considered non-strategic. 

The Commission has the following responsibilities:

• to decide that a body authorised to make claims for obligatory payments in bankruptcy cases and bankruptcy procedures present the Russian Federation's claims for financial obligations to the arbitration court, as well as petitions to declare strategic enterprises or organisations bankrupt;

• to consider measures suggested by state bodies concerned to prevent the bankruptcy of strategic enterprises and organisations and non-strategic defence industry organisations;

• to elaborate and agree measures to prevent the bankruptcy of strategic enterprises and organisations and non-strategic defence industry organisations;

• to coordinate the activities of federal executive bodies in implementing measures to prevent the bankruptcy of strategic enterprises and organisations and non-strategic defence industry organisations;

• to perform other tasks in this sphere.
