Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits an exhibition on socio-economic conditions and information technologies in Bashkortostan
At a booth showcasing telemedicine technologies, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin took part in a teleconference linking a small town in Bashkortostan with clinics in Ufa and Moscow. Doctors from the three locations discussed ways of dealing with an intricate case.
A nearby booth described how the citizens of the republic could apply for emergency assistance from the municipal government.
At a booth devoted to the Ministry of the Interior's video monitoring system, Mr Putin learned about the emergency telephone number residents can use to call the police, as well the centre for traffic control and monitoring for communities in the republic.
Mr Putin familiarised himself with the system for real-time monitoring currently in place in the republic, which makes it possible to follow on-site changes before and after emergencies such as spring floods and oil spills.
The prime minister also stopped at a booth showcasing the Mobile Satellite Centre, which makes it possible to contact any public entity in Bashkortostan, including schools and universities. Mr Putin called a lecture hall at the Pedagogical University, where educators were teaching a lesson on advanced linguistics and philology to students who were not yet in university.
Mr Putin asked the students if they found it difficult to take such an advanced course in addition to their regular studies and whether the curriculum was too difficult. The students replied that they had chosen to study philology, linguistics and the Russian language and were happy to attend the course.
Afterwards, Mr Putin visited the exhibition showcasing agricultural products from Bashkortostan.
