First Deputy Prime Minister and Russian National Coordinator for CIS Affairs Igor Shuvalov visits Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan

During the ensuing talks, the topics of discussion were the general state and specific issues of bilateral Russian-Uzbekistani, Russian-Turkmenistani and Russian Kyrgyzstani relations, regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as various aspects of multilateral cooperation within the context of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

From January 17-20, 2010, First Deputy Prime Minister and Russian National Coordinator for CIS Affairs Igor Shuvalov visited Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, where he held a series of meetings with the presidents and prime ministers of these countries.

During the ensuing talks, the topics of discussion were the general state and specific issues of bilateral Russian-Uzbekistani, Russian-Turkmenistani and Russian-Kyrgyzstani relations, regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as various aspects of multilateral cooperation within the context of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Mr Shuvalov told his counterparts about Russia's plans in regard to the start of its presidency of the Commonwealth, emphasising that the CIS will remain a priority vector for Russian foreign policy. He and his counterparts discussed in detail specific aspects of integration identified in the Concept of the Russian Presidency of the CIS and the plan for its implementation.

All of the participants in the talks noted the need for qualitative changes in the Commonwealth's operations and a maximum degree of specificity in various forms of cooperation.
