First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov chairs a meeting of the commission on alcohol market regulation

“The concept stipulates measures in healthcare and social development, encouragement of physical training and sports, public initiatives advocating healthy living, as well as regulation of alcohol production and marketing,” the deputy prime minister said.

Following debates, the commission approved a concept of state policy to reduce and prevent excessive drinking in Russia. 

"The concept is focused on improving the physical and mental health of the nation," Zubkov said in his opening address. He also said religious, public and scientific associations as well as the business community took an active part in drafting the concept.

"The concept stipulates measures in healthcare and social development, encouragement of physical training and sports, public initiatives advocating healthy living, as well as regulation of alcohol production and marketing," the deputy prime minister said.

The concept was drafted in accordance with the instructions of President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
