Funding for the restoration work at the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP is being provided in a timely manner and under strict state control.

Implementing instructions issued by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the commission focused on ensuring the steady and uninterrupted operation of the Siberian Unified Power System and the preparation of all power facilities in the region for the cold season. Additional capacity at the thermal power plants will be used for these purposes, and additional coal and other fuel have been supplied to the plants. The Federal Grid Company and the Inter-Regional Distribution Grid Company have been reviewed for emergency response preparedness.

To meet the shortfall in electric power, the commission urged bringing the Boguchanskaya hydroelectric power plant on line as soon as possible while maintaining engineering safety. The concerned agencies were told to make strict use of the findings from the technical investigation of the Sayano-Shushenskaya accident and, if necessary, to amend current projects under the new safety requirements.

All departments concerned were also directed to ensure the stable operation of the reservoirs at the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP and the Angara-Yenisei cascade of stations during flooding.
