Mr Putin came to discuss the construction of the Coastal Ring Road (Primorskoye Koltso) in the Kaliningrad Region. Among other things, Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin informed Mr Putin that the first stage of a turnpike connecting the northern end of Kaliningrad to Zelenogradsk, with access to Khrabrovo Airport, had been completed. Mr Levitin also spoke about the plans for the second stage of the route which will connect Zelenogradsk and Svetlogorsk, with access to the town of Pionersky.

Then Mr Putin met with construction workers and thanked them for the work they had done.

"This has been a major effort and I congratulate you," said Mr Putin, emphasising that transport infrastructure provides new opportunities for the economic development of the region.
