Vladimir Putin's introductory remarks:

Good afternoon, friends,

We have gathered today for a gratifying event. A popular saying holds that your impression of theatre begins in its cloakroom. And a town's railway terminal is the same as a theatre's cloakroom: It represents the town's image.

This applies to the Adler station beside us. It has served people for over half a century; this year is the 55th anniversary of its opening. In Soviet times, it was the symbol for relaxation at a health resort.

The Adler railway terminal, the construction of which we will inaugurate today, will embody the new image for the modern town of Adler, an image of a dynamic and multifaceted town, with every opportunity for development.

In recent years, this health resort, beloved by millions of Russians, has been greatly renovated. Today's tasks require creative decisions and sophisticated technologies. This new railway terminal allows for both.

The construction of this railway terminal is this sort of project. It is distinctive for its extraordinary design, up-to-date facilities, and promising future. Its completion will have a great influence on the entire transportation system of the Black Sea coast, making it more rational and convenient.

This project will turn Adler into a major hub, linking various means of transport, including railways, the airport, bus and other motor traffic, and, in the future, marine transportation.

The Adler railway terminal will have a special mission for the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Its ability to transport thousands of athletes, tourists and journalists easily and comfortably will certainly be appreciated. And the fast and enthralling trip from sunny beaches to snow-covered peaks will be one of the surprises of the Olympics.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in this brilliant project. I wish every success to those who are working to bring this idea to life.

Good luck!
