Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visited plants in the Tula Region involved in the implementation of the Novomoskovsk Industrial Complex project

Participants:

Vyacheslav Dudka, Governor of the Tula Region, told the Prime Minister that the cost of the project had been estimated at over 46 billion roubles, out of which only 8.65 billion will be provided by the Investment Fund.

The region's largest industrial companies are involved in the Project. In particular, EuroChem's division Azot plans to invest over 2 billion roubles in modernising production, and Procter & Gamble - Novomoskovsk will invest 4.2 billion roubles, creating over 700 jobs.

Governor Dudka said the project would greatly boost production and increase the load on the region's transport infrastructure. There are plans to build a road linking all the regional plants to the M4 Don federal highway.

After hearing the Governor's report on the region's development plans, Mr Putin visited the detergents shop of Procter & Gamble - Novomoskovsk, where he was shown the brands of laundry and cleaning products the plant turns out.

After that, the Prime Minister saw how detergents are packed.

Mr Putin visited another Novomoskovsk company, Azot, Russia's largest producer of mineral fertilisers.

He began the tour by visiting the construction site for a new shop where granulated carbamide will be produced. Dmitry Strezhnev, chief executive of EuroChem, which incorporates the Azot plant, said no other company in Russia currently produces this kind of fertiliser. Azot will become the first Russian producer of granulated carbamide.

Speaking about the Azot plant, Mr Strezhnev said that since it was incorporated into EuroChem in 2003 they have cut emissions by 50%-67% and increased production by over 30%, while reducing electricity consumption at the plant considerably.

"How did you manage to do this, by using modern equipment?" the Prime Minister asked. Azot's CEO responded that they had achieved this by using modern equipment and also by overhauling production at the plant.

Mr Strezhnev told the Prime Minister about EuroChem's largest investment projects. He said the company is implementing 12 such projects worth in total more than 150 billion roubles.
