Prime Minister Vladimir Putin attended a meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government.

The CIS prime ministers discussed, in part, an action plan for the first stage (2009-2011) of the CIS Economic Development Strategy aimed at minimising the consequences of the global economic crisis.

They also approved measures for cultural cooperation, further development of a common educational space and interstate cooperation in education through 2010, and implementation of the Adult Learning Concept.

In addition, the Council of the Heads of Government approved the concept of developing a common information and library space based on the CIS member states' border libraries in 2009-2010.

The prime ministers also agreed to exchange information vital for combating crime.

They agreed to mint a joint jubilee medal to commemorate "65 Yeas of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."

In accordance with the plan approved by the Council of the CIS Heads of Government, a joint parade will be held in Moscow in 2010, in which war veterans and civilian employees who supported the war effort from the CIS countries will participate.

The prime ministers also agreed to continue searching for the servicemen who have been registered as missing in action since the war in Afghanistan (1979-1989) as well as graves for purposes of exhumation, identification and reburial in home countries.

In addition to the approved agenda, they also decided to draft common measures to prevent the spread of the latest strain of flu in the CIS.
