Prime Minister Vladimir Putin skied near the ski complex of the Polyana Hotel in Sochi

The President and the Prime Minister skied together, and later spent a long time talking with other skiers, who wished the President and the Prime Minister a happy New Year and wished them health and happiness.

The presence of President Dmitry Medvedev, who is also sepnding the holidays in Sochi, and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, has not caused any problems for the people spending holidays at the resort. The slope remained open to the public, so that holidaymakers were able to ski along with the first figures in Russian politics. 

The President and the Prime Minister skied together, and later spent a long time talking with other skiers, who wished the President and the Prime Minister a happy New Year and wished them health and happiness.

After skiing, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and President Dmitry Medvedev, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak and Krasnodar Territory Governor Alexander Tkachev, who had joined them earlier, discussed the construction of Olympic facilities while enjoying a cup of tea at a mountain ski resort cafe.

Yesterday, Mr Putin met with participants in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, which took place on Moscow's Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills). He invited the athletes to Sochi, to ski together down the slopes which will host the 2014 Olympics ski event. All the Cup participants have already arrived in Sochi.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin showed participants in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup around the future 2014 Olympics venues.

The Cup participants arrived in Sochi at Mr Putin's invitation. The Prime Minister greeted them at the Polyana ski resort.

Mr Putin showed them the slope, sites under construction and told them about the planned 2014 Olympics infrastructure.

He also showed the athletes some facilities that are currently under construction.
