The Government’s Official Review of the draft law On Amendments to Article 232 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation

Draft federal law On Amendments to Article 232 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was submitted by Anatoly Lyskov, a member of the Federation Council.

The Government of the Russian Federation has reviewed the submitted draft federal law.

The draft law is aimed at improving the law enforcement practice in detecting and investigating crimes related to the establishment and upkeep of places for consumption of drugs, psychotropic substances and their analogues.

The draft law proposes to introduce amendments to Article 232 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation stipulating liability for systematic provision of premises for the use of drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues.

The above amendments will improve the efficiency of law enforcement agencies and courts of the Russian Federation in combating drug trafficking and the drug use among the population.

In view of the above, the Government of the Russian Federation supports the draft law.
