Conversation with Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Masimov

Participants:
"Our companies are cooperating very closely, and this partnership has become extremely relevant in the wake of global financial problems that are affecting both of our economies. I am thus glad that I am able to have a detailed talk with you at this expanded meeting".

Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:

Karim Masimov. Mr Putin, we are happy to greet you in Astana.

We exchanged opinions on bilateral relations during the meeting of the Council of the SCO Heads of Government. It was a great opportunity for us, and I thank you for coming.

Vladimir Putin. Thank you for the invitation. We discussed SCO problems in a multilateral format. Naturally, we began discussing bilateral relations at the round table, where our conversations mainly focused on economic development and partnership. Our companies are cooperating very closely, and this partnership has become extremely relevant in the wake of global financial problems that are affecting both of our economies. I am thus glad that I am able to have a detailed talk with you at this expanded meeting. I shall also talk to the President, with whom I will now meet.

Kazakhstan is one of our closest partners, with whom we cooperate extremely closely. Our economic contacts are permanently increasing, and we also share many cultural contacts. We always have extensive agendas.

I am very glad to have this opportunity, and I would like to use this occasion to thank you for your invitation once more. Thank you.
